  • This is one that I photographed at the animal control facility (as opposed to the humane society) in Washington. They didn't have an ideal spot for me to work and there was always a LOT of distraction for the animals making it more difficult to get them to look at the camera. Still, I like the profile.

  • Again, Snickers is the only puppy in the gallery that wasn't photographed for an adoption profile because Snickers already had a family. Snickers is a labradoodle.

  • As you might imagine, I made adoption profile photos for all of the dogs in the program while I was there.

  • While I would often bring entire litters to the studio (whether on location at the shelter or at home), I did not usually photograph them together because it made it more difficult to get individual portraits for their adoption profiles. Still, sometimes it was hard to resist putting them together to watch (and photograph) them playing.

  • From time to time I would photograph the adoptable animals on different colored seamless backgrounds. Mostly I did this to make them stand out from all of the other profiles on Petfinder at any given time but sometimes I would do it around a holiday (like green for St. Patrick's Day). In every case, using a colored background made the images less salable as stock photography.
