Parts of Washington are included in what is known as the Palouse. The Palouse is an agricultural zone encompassing southeastern Washington, northeastern Oregon, and north central Idaho. One of the primary crops is wheat. The region has rolling hills and has a long enough growing season that you can often see fields in various stages of growth from plowed fields, to green wheat, to golden wheat ready to harvest. This road is mostly used to access these sprawling wheat fields.
